Is anyone else having issues with the frame rate? In GTA III, for both performance and fidelity modes, the frame rate struggles to be consistent. It is especially noticeable in the performance mode 60fps in high traffic areas. Really hoping that Rockstar is able to patch this. Also the pop in is really rough. Other than that for a remaster it’s great so far!
ID: hk6ij65ID: hk9s6y1This is insane. A two decade old playstation 2 game published by one of the wealthiest publishers can't hit 60fps on a ps5. Glad i avoided this one.
ID: hk6its5All the gameplay streams I've seen have horrible framerate dips, which is staggering for something that looks this shit.

So far i only played gta 3, i really dig the remaster and it feels like playing it on ps2, but with better visuals and smoother fps. At least in the performance mode....BUT it's a joke that the game is struggling to keep 60fps all the time. I don't need real 4k 'cause casualy playing the game you won't notice if it's upscaled or not. But rockstar needs to fix it that the games run in locked 60fps all the time when playing in performance mode. Ther are a lot of other games with better graphics that keep the 60fps in performance mode no matter whats going on on the screen.

Anyone who has actually played the games got an opinion?
ID: hk6w5udYep, I started with GTA3 and am 6 hours in. For info sake, I was about 15 when GTA3 came out and played it heavily at the time. I've not played any version of the trilogy since then.
I love it with caveats. I'm picking up on some jokes that I missed as a teenager which is fun, the gameplay is as good as it always was and the control change makes a huge difference to playability. You can change some graphic settings such as bloom, lens flare, etc and change aim assist sensitivity which I liked. Also choose between tap to sprint and hold.
The rain texture is weird when you're driving and there's some collision bugs in the terrain I've found. Traffic pop in is also a thing at high speed but it was in the original too. I'd have preferred them to remove that. I'm playing on performance mode as fidelity caused some framerate drops on occasion.
GTA3 music isn't quite as iconic as VC which I've not played yet (remastered) but all the ones I remember are in it. Chatterbox is as fun as it ever was.
I bought my PS5 last month and have mainly been playing PS Now games that I missed out on in the last generation that I spent on PC rather than console. GTA DE is my first purchase for PS5 and at £50 for 3 games which I'll probably put 100 hours or so in cumulatively then I'm happy at that price point.
I'm enjoying my time in the game. Many of my friend group have bought it and are looking forward to playing it after work, I presume this will sell well.
EDIT: just a note on the weirdness of the rain texture - what I mean is that the algorithm is not random enough. You essentially get a tile of rain and in that tile the droplets are supposed to fall in a noisy pattern. But there's not enough noise so the rain falls in parallel lines. It's a strange thing to explain, hopefully others can show a video.
ID: hk7iulkRain also seems to be parented to the camera. When you drive fast the rain seems to just follow the camera's speed. Looks weird. Biggest issue so far for me (also about 5-6hrs into III).
I just kinda appreciate being able to play these games on modern hardware with modern sensibilities as far as some semblance of checkpoints, controls, etc. Kinda makes me want a GTA2 remaster in the same vein, not to mention IV and RDR1.

How's the RC helicopter mission? Still a giant pain in the ass?
ID: hk9bfwyI read on another thread that they were able to complete it first try.
ID: hk9l48iNot at all, easy peasy now.
-
Are Vice City and III's camera controls like San Andreas now? As in, can you rotate it with the thumbstick? This and the shooting being updated are the two things I wanted the most from these.
-
Does the driving feel different or is it just me? The races in GTA III are giving me more trouble than before.
ID: hka869fThe driving definitely feels different. It feels like it’s hard to turn.
-
Is the voice audio supposed to sound like this? It sounds like it was recorded through a potato but everything else sounds fine
ID: hk6ml3oYeah I noticed this. I presume that they hadn't got the original audio masters so they had to run with what they had. It doesn't apply to everyone and is more noticeable early on in the game
ID: hk6rc1jThey lost the original master audio and had to run a compressed file

Anyone know if the physical edition in December comes packaged with a poster? That's the only reason I'm waiting.
-
Why are there no reviews?
-
How are the soundtracks?
-
Is it dark for you guys too?
ID: hk97gyeYes.
ID: hk97l51Thanks man
ID: hk9s5nrI saw someone suggest turning down contrast to improve this. So I turned brightness up and contrast down and it looks much better to me.
-
Can someone tell me how the shooting is now?
-
3 hours into vice City and I'm having a wonderful time
If anyone is wondering how improved the controls are, I completed demolition man mission on the first try
ID: hk7lznyI haven’t played Vice City in over 10 years and it’s the one I’m starting with. Absolutely loving the nostalgia.
I would’ve waited for a sale but I game share with a friend and he pre ordered it lol.
ID: hk7s5ikSame, already played 3-4 hours of VC and I’m not sure if it’s just nostalgia or the atmosphere of the game, but man, I’m loving it
-
Playing on PS5… is it just me or is the game like really dark? I’ve turned the brightness settings up all the at and it’s still dark. I am playing in HDR on a LG CX. Only game I’ve had issues with.
Also, the antialiasing doesn’t seem to be all that great. I also am having a hard time figuring out what the difference between fidelity and performance mode is other than framerate.
-
are the cheats the same as originals? like inputs and everything?
-
30 FPS on fidelity mode. What a fucking joke
ID: hk7cj7oI have to admit that is pretty hilarious.
ID: hk7vravPlus unstable 60 on performance mode, I really don’t understand why it’s runs so poorly especially on next Gen consoles.
-
So I'm thinking of holding out until the physical release, but I'm seeing the only PS disc version that will come out will be the PS4 version (which will be "compatible" with PS5)... Does that "compatible" mean just that it'll run, or will it download the PS5 patch? Because otherwise I'd be better off with the digital version, as it'll actually be the PS5 version...
Apologies if that was word vomit.
-
Honestly I'm a little disappointed. It really does look like a mobile port. Multi billion dollars company and this is how they celebrate their primary IP
ID: hk6darhdon't get me wrong, but this was pretty obvious from the trailer. honestly, I couldn't understand those who tried to defend it. I still don't know how much of the soundtrack is missing, but if they've butchered the radios too, this is a no-go for me
ID: hk6lndbThere’s a post in the gta sub with all the included tracks fyi
ID: hk6g2rtAside from Michael Jackson missing from Vice City there aren’t many notable tracks missing. And MJ was missing from the PS4 version of the original.
-
Bought it, hate it. Will never trust myself with money ever again.
These "Definitve Editions" are inferior in every way to the OG ps2 versions ...
-
As someone who has only played 4/5 I’m really enjoying 3 so far. Going to play 3, vice city and San Andreas in order. Pretty excited
-
Ok so I really like the art style of the cities and I feel like it captures the feel of the originals perfectly. That being said some of the character models look laughable
-
These are fine for what they are. Even with the GTAV controls, these are dated in terms of gameplay.
I've noticed some frame drops as well, but overall the improved environments are nice.
It's all three games brought to modern platforms. I don't see what all the disappointment and rage is about. I can entertain mild disappointment with some frame drops, the $60 price, or even the new art style, but some of the negative comments make it seem like they ran over your dog or something.
-
Can you free aim or lock on while on motor bike? Or is it just blind fire straight ahead in San Andreas
-
Can anyone in this thread tell me the file size on PS5? This release is wild with how little media outlets seem to have gotten before release... By the end of the release day we'd normally have performance reviews and at least file sizes by platform, but Google is getting me nothing..
-
Are you guys playing this on fidelity or performance?
ID: hkashfaPerformance. It’s a bit uneven but it plays a hellava lot better in that mode.
-
Do all three games have their own trophies list or do they share just one list?
-
All the hate is warranted for this being lazy but I gotta be honest I’m having so much fun with it.
It’s the old GTA games I love but now with environments that look 100x better and controls that are actually half decent
-
Am I the only one who think's these games look uglier at times than the originals?
Don't get me wrong, on an individual asset basis it obviously looks better, but things don't look like they fit together and it's in a really weird uncanny valley place for me.
The weather effects don't match with the more cartoony art-style presented, the cars look very plastic-like, character models are very hit or miss, and the lack of fog hiding the fact that the maps are in fact small is a little jarring.
The original games had a cohesion with everything that it did with its art style. While it obviously doesn't look great today, I feel like this remaster looks like one of those fan made projects where they plop assets into Unity/Unreal for a tech demo on a YouTube video and called it a day.
I was expecting something more akin to the Diablo 2 Remaster, where the new visuals basically look like how you thought the game looked as a kid. Upgraded in everyway but carefully put together to make sure nothing from the original was lost. This package looks like botched botox in comparison.

San Andreas drops from time to time for me.
