- Harold Halibut - Story Trailer 2021

This reminds me of a sci-fi Wes Anderson flick. Count me in!
Edit: Just found an in-depth video on the Unity YouTube channel where they describe their process using hand-made materials. Super fascinating!
ID: gtonbdxID: gtof4m7Yep, never knew I wanted a Sci-fi Wes Anderson but here it is!
ID: gtpm414And just like a Wes Anderson film, this trailer is frigging mesmerizing!
ID: gtohcbnThere's even a character in the trailer that looks very similar to Tracy from Isle of Dogs.
ID: gtofkosWas thinking the same thing glad I wasn't the only one getting the Wes Anderson vibes
ID: gtp9pwsBlows my mind this was apparently made by 12 people. Watched their Kickstarter video and then a talk on the Unity channel on YouTube where they talk about how it was made using real world modeling, photogrammetry, etc. Looks like a shitload of work. Will wait for reviews but the art style and atmosphere is very impressive.
ID: gtpcw92I found the Unity video! Truly mindblowing.

Ahh finally. Backed it 3 or 4 years ago on Kickstarter. It is a game from a little german developer.
ID: gtoa991Shout out to you for helping make this stunning game become a reality. I love the visual style. Seems intriguing
ID: gtoaj87If you like that art style maybe Trüberbrook is something for you. It's a game from another little german Studio and is available for consoles too.
ID: gtohvxwSo did I! I was so disappointed when it was unsuccessful. Glad to see it's still happening, and honestly, it looks way more impressive than I had expected!

I am a sucker for claymation. This looks so cool.
ID: gtokstcI kind of wish this had a low framerate (at least as an option) to mimic claymation somewhat.
ID: gtooimsLooks like it's slated for a PS4 release, so you've got your wish.
ID: gtos53pCould be a cool “filter” to include as an option. Kinda how SpiderMan MM had the suit that caused that!
ID: gtop55kImagine if they released an option for the frame rate in the game? That would be amazing haha.
ID: gtq23ydThey talk about experimenting with lower framerates in the video OP linked but said it felt jittery and bad. Maybe they could try something like the “multiverse suit” effect in Miles Morales where the character moves at a lower frame rate than the environment?
ID: gtqpgyrCLAY FIGHTERS FTW

WOW. Presentation is so slick I slipped while watching this trailer.
ID: gtokobrslipped
What does this mean? English not first language.
ID: gtol2e7Think like when the ground is lightly icy or wet, and you lose your friction and fall? That is "slipping".
So, OP means that the game presentation was so "slick" (meaning both cool and slippery) that they lost their footing and "slipped."
ID: gtolctxHe stepped on a banana skin, fell down three flights of stairs and broke his little toe. Common problem when watching videos.
ID: gtoyy0eEnglish is my first language and I've never heard this phrase lol

Beautiful looking game but I don't believe this is slated for a console release?
Edit: looks like it is, it's just buried deep on their webpage!
ID: gto9a26ID: gtoaa3kOh brilliant, I'm surprised it doesn't mention anywhere on their marketing materials!
ID: gto96stIt is coming for consoles 🙂

This looks incredible!
-
What? This looks phenomenal. Definitely on my radar!
-
I'm getting some strong Wes Anderson vibes from this.
-
The story alone intrigued me. I thought I was watching a trailer for a movie. Looks like it’s a stop motion graphics game like Salurai’s recent release (diorama graphics) in his new game. Love how devs are pushing new boundaries other than CG alone.
-
Is this going to play like a Grim Fandango type adventure/puzzle game?
ID: gtorn43Yeah the story and style look great but I’m curious about how this plays.
ID: gtp1psrDefinitely seems like it’ll be a story-driven walking simulator. I’m sure they’ll be puzzles but, based on this trailer, I don’t see any need for combat. There’s no enemies.
-
Was Neil Gaiman narrating?
-
If Wes Anderson made a video game.
-
Looks super unique. Definitely one I’ll keep my eyes out for
-
Gives me Trüberbrook x Broken Age vibes. Definitely on my radar!
ID: gtoiaheYeah definitely trüberbrook vibes. As far as I know in both games almost everything is handcrafted and in stop motion filmed.
-
Anyone else have tears brought to their eyes watching this trailer or was it just me?
-
Holy fuck. Wow. Beautiful
-
Been waiting for this one. Cant wait
-
No idea what kind of game this will be but I'm intrigued nonetheless
-
I might get this...just for the halibut
-
Cool artstyle, looks pretty interesting
-
Love the art style!
-
Dude, this looks fantastic, just wow.
I literally just watched the movie "Isle of Dogs" yesterday and loved it, now I hop on this subreddit and see this trailer, the art style reminds me of movie so much, it's like getting to play and interact in a real "Isle of Dogs" world!
The story itself sounds great and really interesting, but I'm sold on the art style alone, this looks beautiful.
ID: gtp8jvhLoved that movie!
-
Ooh I played this one at GDC in like 2018. It's really really cool visually! I was blown away when I heard it was all done with 3D scanning.

Wes Anderson with the voice cast of Archer, in space! This trailer is the first thing I've seen since I've woken up and I'm not fully convinced I'm not still dreaming.
