It’s that catchy title.

Looks dope

so should i play AUTOMATA now or wait and start with REPLICANT?
ID: gtoyxhfThe whole reason I haven’t played Automata yet was because I was waiting for Replicant to come out, so I’ll be playing Replicant first
ID: gtpbprpAutomata changed who I was as a person. Really excited for this remake as I've never played the first one.
ID: gtqxmg6The order you play them in isn’t actually that important, because aside from some lore and a few characters, they’re completely different. But if you just want the whole chronological experience, Replicant is actually a spin off of Drakengard 3,
ID: gtoza82At this point play Replicant first
ID: gtqr9nbAutomata has references to Replicant, and Replicant (especially the remake) will have references to Automata. But the two are independent of each other. They do touch on similar themes. And both will make you cry.
I would say play Automata first. It seems like SQEX is making this remake with those who played Automata first in mind.
ID: gtpoq2qYou can play Replicant first. But still definitely play Automata when you can. And remember to go for all the endings.
ID: gtq1od8I did A-E and some random other ones but didn't go for all of them!
ID: gtq38s5Replicant first!
ID: gtqk9c4I'm surprised I haven't seen anyone else say this yet- wait for a few weeks after it comes out, then ask again or scroll through
for the answer. They're being extremely cagey about what kind of new things will and won't be in the game. We know that there's new stuff, we don't know if or how it will connect to Automata, Drakengard, or any upcoming, unannounced game. The new stuff could be nothing more than self-contained side-stories, but it could also be some massive fanservice for fans of Automata, which may spoil that game or just be less impactful for someone who hasn't played it.What we do know is that Yoko Taro and Yosuke Saito are very much aware of the fact that most people who know about Nier these days began with Automata. The assumption then is that many people who pick this one up will have played Automata, but not necessarily Gestalt/Replicant, meaning that there could be new stuff directly targeted at fans of Automata.
It's also worth pointing out that Yoko Taro has a history of fucking with the fans and subverting expectations in many different ways, so we really just can't know what's going to happen with this game. If you want the "optimal" experience, wait and ask again. Worst case scenario, you start with this game but you come in a couple weeks late. Best case scenario, you play Automata first (my personal favorite game ever, play it regardless) and have a superior experience with the remake because you went in with the knowledge of Automata. If you just go ahead and pick this up day one, you could be spoiled on Automata or confused or just ultimately dissatisfied because you weren't the target audience (which would be Automata fans). Or nothing could happen and this is the best way to start. We just don't know, so hold off a bit.
That being said, if you're desperate to start now, honestly, I say starting with Automata is a more than safe bet. We know that that game works for people who haven't played the first Nier, we don't know that the same could be said for people playing the remake without playing Automata.
ID: gtp85rbThey're completely unrelated stories. You don't need to have played Replicant to play Automata.
ID: gtpbw8k^Not true at all, the world is the same and Automata is a straight up sequel with characters from Replicant.
ID: gtpjwa7They relate, just not in ways that would make you feel lost playing one before the other.
ID: gtqqu0tmight as well wait for replicant. plus i think automata looks better, even though it's a ps4 game.
ID: gtqxf4aThis is a PS4 game too. No PS5 version

I really thought that the ver.1.22474487139 was a placeholde
in the store as that was that was they considered the file named as.That is the strangest name for a game ever and I don’t even know what it has to do with the game.
ID: gtoyextIt is the square root of 1.5. Not that random.
ID: gtp050hThat’s fascinating. I would have never thought to check that, so thank you. Does that mean it’s not a sequel?
ID: gtpd9abDoes it have any meaning or is it just the usual mind games?
ID: gtp0hxuThat's cool, but also a bit cumbersome for people to read. Being a developer myself, when I see things like this I just think of human error vs developer arrogance. Having a version number like that is a nightmare for any manual based activities, such as release notes etc (unless these guys are flexing their automation muscles, but it's quite unlikely). Not sure what is wrong with 1.x.x version'ing, but this is all just my opinion.
ID: gtp6mvcHave you played the Nier games yet? I feel like if you did you’d understand. And by understand I just mean you’d realize it’s intentionally weird like that.
ID: gtp7offI haven’t. I recently got the PS5 and I know the games are on Xbox but always feel these types of games were made for PS so never dabbled in them.
Never played a Final Fantasy, Souls, Sekiro, Ghost of Tsushima, etc. They look great but just felt PS is the place to do it. Would you recommend Nier as opposed to others to jump into?
Part of my holding off is never played FFVII so might as well just wait for 60fps, Bloodborne if it ever gets patched. Feels like the best way for a lot of these games to be experienced so can’t bring myself to experience it at 30 when 60 is within reach.

I’m hype as hell for this. It is going to be weird not hearing papa Nier’s voice though
-
Probably the game I'm most looking forward to.

I just started Nier: Automata. How often do the save points come around? It seems they are few and far between.
ID: gtorgxyI don't remember it being a problem after the first part of the game. Once you beat that boss guy I'm pretty sure saves come up fairly frequently.
ID: gtorxibGood to know. Thanks. I love how the game starts. It's got an obvious cool factor going on.
ID: gtos3f6After you beat the intro they are pretty frequent. IIRC there is a video on YouTube explain why the intro lacks saves and is long
ID: gtoxfkmQuite frequently. Sometimes within map sight of one another.
ID: gtqdr6eThe first part of the game is rough if I remember correctly. There isn’t a save point for the first like 45 minutes. So play it safely or turn down the difficulty just till you get to the first save.
Saves start to get progressively better and appear way more frequent.
ID: gtox2f2They’re not as bad as it seems, this is the deepest most profound game I’ve ever played.

If Papa nier isn't in that disc somewhere, then it ain't gold.
ID: gtpk8fbHe’s gotta be.
-
Hopefully we get a PS5 version with Replicant and Auto
-
The White Snow Edition restocked last night on the Square Enix store too.
ID: gtpwqo1I just thought of the game yesterday and saw it was there I thought it was strange that it wasn’t sold out. I decided just to preorder the game itself because don’t know what I’d even do with the extra things just collect dust
-
can someone ELI5 me why the ver. is so long, and why it's even there?
ID: gtp4ut2It’s the square root of 1.5
ID: gtpxiaqIs the square root of 1.5 something significant to the game or lore?
-
Just don't expect too much. This is a multiplatform remaster not a Sony tier remake.
-
I really hope they did a number on the graphics. The teaser videos looked not so great.
ID: gtq0vjhIt's a remaster of an old game, not a remake. The graphics are going to look dated. Automata came out in 2017 and those graphics looked dated, also, especially for 2017.
-
I hope they at least change some of the loot drop rates, because in the original it was an absolute nightmare of a grind fest to finish many of the side quests and weapon upgrades. That was pretty much the only problem I had with the game, but it was such an obtrusive problem that I nearly dropped my entire playthrough.
-
I’m damn excited for this!
-
The numbers Mason !. What do they mean ?

Cutting it close
