Exploring PS5 - Challenges
2 : Anonymous2021/06/26 19:56 ID: h350jld

I’m afraid the biggest challenge for people right now is to actually get a ps5.

ID: h352t3o

I’d say it’s a toss up between managing storage on ps5 and acquiring ps5.

ID: h35cnj4

I'm gonna have to get an external anyway. Downloading to reinstall is such a ball ache if you play online games. If it can do it in the background I can plan ahead and get on with other stuff.

ID: h35mav2

Can't manage storage on a PS5 if you can't get a PS5. Problem solved.

ID: h36pnxj

I’m honestly not having much of an issue yet. Most games have been surprisingly small (Resident Evil and Ratchet and Clank both being around 30 GB). I put my PS4 games on an external drive and I’ve got like 300 GB free and I remove games I’m done with.

ID: h35cjvi

Yah it’s rough. I wonder if they will let us use external ssd’s for ps5 games at some point

ID: h38s5pl

Or finding something to play once you've finished the handful of PS4 games that have been patched to take advantage of PS5's power.

ID: h35z2gf

So has this sub pretty much just devolved into a place where people can bitch about not having a PS5?

ID: h36svbt

Unfortunately so.

ID: h36zpze

I actually have a ps5 since day one, but I know it’s a fact that it’s really hard to get one right now.

ID: h37yv8o

It's ridiculously hard to get one. That's just a fact. It took me 5 weeks to get mine, and I was able to put a significant amount of time into it. There's people who try for months and can't get one. I don't think it's wrong to complain about it when it's such a crappy situation.

PS5’s biggest challenges:

Getting game refunds

Avoiding advertising

Navigating the menus

Figuring out what games in the store are actually for sale right now instead of preorders or “JUST ANNOUNCED”

Using the cards for activities to get into a game faster than the main menu

Having more than 3 AAA PS5 games installed at once

Keeping the “follow” list empty

Managing saves with PS+ storage

Not getting ripped off by subbing to both Niw and Plus when they deliver the exact same games

And many more...!

ID: h35dd3j

To point #6, I feel like that's a bit of an exaggeration.

I've currently got installed:

-Ratchet and Clank

-Returnal

-FF7 Remake Intergrade

-God of War

-Control

-Demons Souls

-Miles Morales

And I'm only using just over half of my available memory at the moment.

ID: h36k8gv

The whole list was picky nonesense and exaggeration.

ID: h35dtls

Ehh, you are lucky you don't play COD. I want to get 1tb internal ssd when it comes out so I never have to deal with constantly deleting games because there is a new COD update.

ID: h37n9zr

I don’t even understand why someone would need all these games installed at the same time.

How often are you playing these games?

ID: h35rtv0

Man this is really pushing it lol. I agree that their refund policy sucks but there is no legal or economic incentive for that to change. I think Steam's refund policy should become a legal obligation for digital products but until then I'm not hopeful for a change. But even then, it's not a PS5 challenge so much as a digital marketplace challenge.

Navigating the menus

What, it's different from PS4 therefore it's bad? I used a buddy's PS4 earlier today to transfer some games from my external SSD to his console and I was completely lost. You just need to get used to the PS5 menus.

Figuring out what games in the store are actually for sale right now instead of preorders or “JUST ANNOUNCED”

... There's a "deals" page?

Using the cards for activities to get into a game faster than the main menu

This seems to be mostly up to the developers.

Having more than 3 AAA PS5 games installed at once

This is complete bullshit. There's 660GB of available storage on the PS5. What kind of AAA games do you play that average 220GB??

Managing saves with PS+ storage

How is that in any way harder than PS4?

Not getting ripped off by subbing to both Niw and Plus when they deliver the exact same games

That's just bad faith, there aren't that many games coming to both services in a short amount of time. Not to mention it's a completely different system. What good will it do you if PS+ got resogun in 2013 if you didn't have PS+ back then? You can only get PS+ games for the month while they're on, but most PSNow games stay on the service for a lot longer. And once games are taken off PSNow you're SOL, while every game you picked up on PS+ stays yours forever when your sub is active

Figuring out what games in the store are actually for sale right now instead of preorders or “JUST ANNOUNCED” ... There's a "deals" page?

He meant that it was hard to differentiate between released, pre-order, and just announced titles with no purchase option.

ID: h364hyk

He's right about the store. You often have to scroll past many preorders just to see what's available now. Let alone the ridiculous amount of 'Just announced'

I think the games being installed issue is mainly a COD issue as others stated.

PS+ save storage being on par with how it was on the PS4 is not a good thing.

ID: h361kz9

Absolutely agree. I’ll admit, I’m a bit of a PlayStation fanboy, but I’m loving the PS5–way more than I did the PS4 at this point in its lifespan

ID: h36pb96

"getting used" to something that is bad is proof that's it's bad. It's not deal breaking but "getting used" to something isn't a good excuse for poor design or decision making. There's plenty of thibgs in life that people shouldn't be "getting used" to

ID: h35cjwr

Figuring out what games in the store are actually for sale right now instead of preorders or “JUST ANNOUNCED”

We're trying to fix this at PlayStationDB

ID: h35eoue

Why is navigating the menus a challenge? I find the menus worlds better than the PS4 menus. Now it's way more comfortable.

ID: h35oirj

Exactly this. Short press of pS button brings up the menu on the bottom, long press brings up the top menu. Took me a little while of trial and error to figure this out (didn't google or read any instruction manuals), but afterwards, it is flawless.

My biggest pain was the fact that the PS5 wasn't using the proper 4K transfer rate, and so my projector was constantly swapping between HDR and non-HDR, showing the screen for maybe 2-3 seconds every 10. I finally resolved this by setting the transfer rate to -2, and now my experience is amazing, with zero noticeable picture quality loss, and I'm playing in GLORIOUS 4K HDR on 117" screen! 🙂

Man, you’re exaggerating on #6.

I have Astro’s Playroom, Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Spider-Man: Remastered, Demon’s Souls, Returnal, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and Hitman 3 all installed on my PS5 (7 games), and I still have 303 GB left (enough to install atleast 4-5 more sizeable games).

Your problem only arises when you have Modern Warfare and Black Ops Cold War installed and frankly, no one should be giving Activision that liberty to take up our drive space to such an extent. Keeping one CoD game (BOCW) on your SSD is more than enough.

We do need internal SSD storage expansion to be enabled, but atleast we can use external HDD and SSD storage for storing (not playing) PS5 games which you aren’t playing at the moment.

ID: h36gl0r

My biggest issue with the ps5 is not being able to invite friends to the party, you can only join.

ID: h36pk19

The whole party overhaul hs actually made me and my friends more isolated than ever. No even bothers with it now

ID: h36p66z

I love the ps5 but menus and ui are very poorly laid out and optimised... Don't even get me started on "game recording paused" "game recording resumed"

ID: h37yn95

Also cross-gen vs this gen

4 : Anonymous2021/06/27 00:31 ID: h35upck

Is there even any other games with challenges other than Sackboy and Astro?

5 : Anonymous2021/06/27 15:01 ID: h37u78p

These challenges really helped getting the Spiderman platinum. Basically press one it instantly teleports you to whatever it is you need, complete it, do it again and so on.

They do seem to be a bit hit and miss game depending though. I notice for Nioh 2 it just wanted me to play the same mission over and over.

But it is a great way to get into a game instantly too.

Oh, and stupid me didn't realise you could actually press square on a hidden trophy to unhide it! Just found that out, kinda irrelevant but just wanted to throw that in there.

Yea, they gotta be building up to something.

Edit - get down voted cause I think they building up towards something? Lol wow, ok.

ID: h35n4dp

This is just an advertising campaign

ID: h368nuf

I know, but last time they did this, was to build up towards a game showcase/ps5 release. With the release of these vids recently, I get the same feeling.
