It seems that my AIO will be retired or wait until AM5 retention brackets hits the market.

ID: h7128c3

Or wait for some crafty fellow like myself to design 3d printable adapters for the new socket

Excellent, no stupid screw post like post-775 Intel LGA.

4 : Anonymous2021/07/29 23:21 ID: h70nmgx

ryzen 6000 series is vermer x3d, zen3 with 3dcache, same am4 socket, ddr4 ram

ryzen 7000 is zen4, am5 socket ,ddr5 ram, pci express gen4

ID: h73aff8

Pretty sure 5000 series is the last to use am4.

ID: h73pa1n

I think ryzen 6000 series zen3 with 3d caché Will use the same am4 socket and zen4 will use am5 socket

5 : Anonymous2021/07/29 18:29 ID: h6ziu7u

AM5 for Zen 4 that is actually Ryzen 6000 series.

I know they're different things, but boy do they make it confusing sometimes.

ID: h6zm8db

*7000

most likely

ID: h72v8ps

Even better!

We can have the long breath AMD Zen 4 Ryzen 5 7600X - AM5 socket, compatible with 600 series motherboards.

ID: h6zjw6h

Zen4, Ryzen 6000, DDR5, PCIe4.

Should have kept it simple. Rename the 5000 series desktop CPUs 4000, then they could have announced:

Zen 5 (skipping Zen4) coming soon to Ryzen 5000 series:

DDR5

PCIe5

SATA Next

Coming: 5.5.55

ID: h6zyshd

Rename the 5000 series desktop CPUs 4000, then they could have announced:

and still have APUs and CPUs on different arch despite having the same numbers, ask AMD how that have worked out for B550 CPU compatibility.

ID: h6zsifs

Coming: 5.5.55

Chiming in from 5.5.75 , The world crypto wars have only ceased 10 years ago , but supply still hasn't caught up...

Typed on a "celery" dual core from 2010 that was preserved in a museum.

New socket up top...in the picture.

If you do not like/trust VideoCardz...go to DigiTimes...

Accept it...all new stuff

Like old VW Beetles were not VW Rabbits

I'm still confused. Is it confirmed that Ryzen 6000 series won't be on AM4?

ID: h6znirp

Ryzen 6000 could be Zen 3+ or Zen 3d cache for AM4, but that is not certain.

ID: h6znjch

According to the table in the link, Ryzen 6000 is speculated to be "Zen3D" architecture, so the Zen3 arch form Ryzen 5000 plus stacked (="3D") cache, and using DDR4 memory.

So no, it looks more likely to still be on AM4.

ID: h701tud

No. The Ryzen 5000 series was the last upgrade for the 400 series chipset/motherboards. 500 series chipset still has an upgrade or two down the line.

ID: h6zrl2v

Why is that confusing?

ID: h70a0a5

Zen 1: Ryzen 1000 Zen+: Ryzen 2000 Zen 2: Ryzen 3000 Zen 3: Ryzen 5000

I can totally see how the naming scheme confuses people.

ID: h6zxq7z

your car has some kind of engine, some kind of wheels and its own name, are you confused?

ID: h70kngx

Not a great analogy. I don't DIY put my car together with parts from different manufacturers and have to worry about compatibility.

I swear whenever someone talks about Zen 3 I still get confused whether they're talking about the 3000 series or 5000 series.

I’ve recently just switched from a 6600K to a 5600X and I’m glad they’re changing to LGA, the current setup with sticking out pins on the CPU is a nightmare waiting to happen, AMD must be losing a ton having to RMA all these bent pins.

What's with the holes in the ihs?

ID: h70a2k9

I assume you are talking about the IHS not being perfectly square?

I have a theory....

The theory is that this CPU, also looks a bit taller... What if there is a bit more 3D stacking going on with zen4, then we realise... The Zen3D is a pipecleaner, and they are going all out for zen4.

The extra 'holes' are actually extra surface area a CPU cooler can make contact with, to help extract the heat from the CPU.

ID: h70dbuv

Or there are no capacitors on the bottom of the CPU to make room for more pads and so they moved the caps to the holes around the edges.

ID: h70b7s8

ah, they're rendered extra shiny, looked like actual holes. The surface area theory is an interesting one.

ID: h71f5wz

Agree, It is not a "hole". Those curve-in section also most likely also make the IHS structurally stronger.

I know looks have no place for this level of engineering but Christ what an ugly looking package! Reminds me of a bathtub overflow cover.

Thank god it'll be hidden under a heatsink.

ID: h720om7

Bit sad to see the clean am4 aesthetic gone, but if it brings us better performance, its no big deal

9 : Anonymous2021/07/29 18:10 ID: h6zg5d8

Who is this ExecutableFix?

ID: h6zhioa

A leaker with a great record.

ID: h72s9qz

Well it is good but not great. Komachi, APISAK and momomo all have way better track records according to a recent tally.
