Spencers castle? I used to think this was the Spencer Estate but from the water around the castle it reminds me more of Spencers castle in Europe where he actually lived. This picture is in RE0 from my Easy collect all health run (will be putting a short update video soon) but yea, thoughts?

It’s a painting based off of Neuschwanstein castle in Germany. It’s in the original RE, RE2, remake, 0 and even RE4. It’s just a painting they used in backgrounds of the games, has no connection to anything in world. I have a beer bottle on my RE shelf with that painting on it.

do you know where in RE2 it was? i've only seen it in REmake, RE0, and RE4

ID: hflh5ox

It’s in the hallway connected to the chiefs office. The hallway with the tiger. You’ll see it as you walk through, it’s partially obscured by a corner but you can see the castle in there.

It may be based off of a real location you're correct but it doesn't mean that I can't have any in game connection to a fictional place that looks very similar like Spencer's Castle or something

I suppose the devs could of took inspiration when designing the spencer castle for RE5. But I’m pretty sure it’s just background filler. Make the game world seem more lived in. The series is littered with real world paintings used in the backgrounds. Remake has some pretty good paintings used in it. Either way, it’s really neat seeing it in the background of multiple titles. I made a post of tumblr probably four years ago or so with screenshots from each game that had the painting in it. Cool easter egg.

I'm not 100% on this but I think you can find the same painting in the Spencer Mansion in REmake. That always led me to believe it was Spencer's private residence which we end up seeing in 5... So yeah I'd say you're dead on the money.

I did remember seeing in 1 as well I do remember that now.

Most paintings on RE are real, classic paintings used as atrezzo for backgrounds, normally when you read the description is an asspull with no relation with the piece.

ID: hfkl9dt

That's what I mean by perhaps they integrate them into there world

ID: hfkllo7

I doubt they would do that. For example one painting is tittled "witches for the fire hell" and the depiction says it's creepy whatever when the piece is Christ in the crux.

A random paint most likely

When you play lost in nightmares in the first cinematic with Chris and Jill infiltrating the "castle" you can see how is basically exactly the same as the Spencer mansion in the arklay forest

ID: hfksmzn

Yea but the start screen looks like castle and also the more you progress it seems more castle like to me

ID: hfkv405

Well, it's simply not

6 : Anonymous2021/10/06 06:47 ID: hfkrzb7

It’s probably a Easter egg and doesn’t have actual lore. This painting can be found in re remake and 4 as well

ID: hfkshhz

Yea I seen it in Remake

7 : Anonymous2021/10/06 12:05 ID: hfletm7

That is a real life painting that can bee found in Zero, Remake and RE4, makes sense as all 3 are running the same engine

ID: hfmt0l7

REmake and RE4 use the same engine. Zero uses its own engine developed by a separate team.

ID: hfmx752

No way RE zero has a different engine, a modified version to allow two player gameplay yes, but not different

Hey Chris, did I ever tell you about the time I killed a giant scorpion, centipede, bat, and leech-man all in one night? In fact, it all happened just last night! Anyway, Billy was a good friend.

Castle Dimetrescu??? Just a fun thought to connect it all the way around.

ID: hfkb1s5

That would be interesting, I can't remember was there water around the castle? I literally Beat every difficulty then stopped playing for a long time

10 : Anonymous2021/10/06 04:00 ID: hfkdlj5

I think this is based off a castle in Germany

ID: hfkdpyv

Oh? Perhaps it is, you never know. It's just fun to theory 😉

ID: hfmhtzj

It's called Schloss Neuschwanstein. Here's a Wikipedia Link for it. It really looks like it imo.

The castle and the estate.

At least in videogame years.

That was my thought.

ID: hfkl6nh

Oh ok the estate was built some time in the 70s o believe

ID: hfklbqv

If only they had been real enough to visit. Wouldn't have taken too long to become haunted after the incidents if both had survived.

Then it would have become world legendary for paranormal phenomena.

They're both old

ID: hfkkxi2

What do you mean, they are both old?

13 : Anonymous2021/10/06 15:33 ID: hfm4zlb

Its the Castle where Lady Dimitrescu is

14 : Anonymous2021/10/06 16:34 ID: hfmdxtt

Must have been a public domain piece that captured the spirit Capcom wanted. I think this was also in the piano room in the REmake. Anyone else remember where it is in the other games?

15 : Anonymous2021/10/06 19:24 ID: hfn26o6

It's a picture of Neuschwanstein castle. I have one framed at home. No connection to any Spencer estate, even though RE1 describes it as a 'picture of the mansion'.

16 : Anonymous2021/10/06 03:56 ID: hfkd5a8

Resi5 DLC?

ID: hfkd9of

Spencers castle is in the RE5 Dlc yes, it was also pointed out that this painting is also found in the Spencer Estate as well
