Why didn’t Capcom censor “te cogi!” and “COGELO” (**** him) NSFW

Cogelo literally means "fuck him" unless you're in Spain which is obviously where the game takes place. However the game uses more Latin American Spanish than Spainish where "coger" only means to fuck.

If you speak Spanish, every time you start the game you hear whispers saying "cogelo cogelo cogelo...."

Well, "Te cogí" and "Cogelo" actually just mean "I got you" and "catch him" only some people, on countries like Mexico, use those words as slang for sex. Why would they censor a word which actual real meaning is not offensive at all?

Why would they censor Ballistics?

Human heads and severed with a chainsaw, or blown off with a shotgun, and THAT'S the thing that should be censored?

I mean, it's a mature video game . . . but personally, I'd censor violence before foul language...

How about we don't censor anything at all? What's the fun of a horror game without voilence?

I know you don't actually think it should be censored btw, I just think it's a silly thing to say.

Because why would they censor cussing in an M rated game? One of the earliest lines in the game is Leon exclaiming “Shit!” upon seeing the officers accompanying get attacked, why is it any different if people swear in Spanish?

Because it could be perceived to be too sexual. Like "Ballistics."

Has 0 to do with cussing lol.

Leon and satanic sex cult

6 : Anonymous2021/10/28 22:42 ID: hifw7hb

I mean have you seen how attractive Leon is?

7 : Anonymous2021/10/28 23:23 ID: hig1mf0

bruh cógelo means catch him

like aren't you embarrassed of calling something out in a language you clearly don't understand

fun fact: in the spanish version when leon has to grab something the prompt says "coger"

ID: hig3zdm

Aren't you embarrassed that you don't know how to read?

You must not know the language very well because if you did (which I even highlighted in my post and you still didn't notice) you'd know that RE4 erroneously uses some Latin American Spanish.

You just proved your knowledge of Spanish is poor as well as your reading comprehension.

Boy shut up lmao

Spanish doesn't work that way my friend. In this context, "Cogelo" means "Catch him". In Spain, "coger" doesn't actually means f*ck but in Mexico does, at the same time, other countries don't necessarily use the word in that context.

9 : Anonymous2021/10/28 22:32 ID: hifuuma

Because back then people weren’t offended so easily…

Well, there are at least one insult they say that contains what it's commonly called "bad language". But given that only the more recent RE games (maybe starting with revelations 2 not sure) started to use "bad language" more, I guess that's fine for "the modern audiences".

No it doesn't tf. Spanish speaker my whole life, te cogí means I got you. Some, not all, latin american countries use the term coger as fuck, but not spain; and even then the context of the usage of the word matters. Nothing is even remotely insinuating anything sexual.

ID: hig4k6k

"No it doesn't, tf?"

proceeds to explain the same thing I explained in my opening post

Intelligent people here for sure.

Leader of the pack over here

How is it using more latin american terms? That doesn't even make sense, tell me one regional term that is used exclusively in latin america? Apparently thats your argument

ID: hig5aqp

"However the game uses more latin american spanish that spanish" get outta here
