Half-Life 2. Ravenholm.
ID: hjgucbgID: hjgzpbhRavenholm went from horror to "fun gravity gun shenanigans" really fast for me.

When I was a kid Zelda Majoras mask scared the hell out of me
ID: hjgzj6vMajors mask has extremely dark themeing, it's just masked under Zeldas usual art and sound design
ID: hjgtx98The ReDead horrified me as a little kid when I accidentally got on my brothers profile because I wanted to see what that green bar did and how he got so many hearts.
-
Ecco the motherfucking Dolphin
ID: hjfwzjwOGs know the fear. Hell, even Ecco Jr was creepy when I was younger
-
the entirety of deepnest from hollow knight
ID: hjgzwx8Deepest is a masterclass in atmosphere and sound design
-
The asylum-esque section toward the end Bioshock infinite always creeped me out, those guys with the trumpet/phonographs on their heads, bleh.
ID: hjfxo5mDomt forget the jump scare after you pull the switch or whatever ever you're there to do i havent played that game in years
-
Minecraft cave noises
ID: hjgt0eyAnd just various MC mobs like the guardians and warden...
-
Firewatch
ID: hjflveuFire watch looks cool, worth a play?
ID: hjgfk7hIf you like a good story and are not picky about gameplay. It is a walking simulator type game. The dialogue and plot are awesome tho! Def recommend.
ID: hjfmpolYep ^^
ID: hjgq1tnI played this game about a year ago and have never had a game make me feel the same. The sense of paranoia in that game in combination w the ending was something else. 10/10

Subnautica. I still love how surprised the developers were to learn a lot of people find their game scary, but to someone with thalassophobia like myself it might as well be a horror game through and through.
ID: hjgjcbjI refuse to believe they didn't know it was scary when they made the Reapers sound like that lol. They totally knew, and they did it super well. Survival horror at its finest. Of course, it gets less scary as you go but those first few days, I was afraid to even go in the water at night and I was in the baby "safe shallows". By the end I was building Sea Dragon Leviathan observatories.
ID: hjh4hokWhat scares me the most about reapers is that when you can hear them, they see you.
-
Not scared, but Spec Ops The Line (as shown in the image for this post) made me feel uneasy as things in that game started to unfold and become more violent/savage. A part of me didn't actually want to see how far the game/ the player character was going to go
ID: hjftc61Well, did you feel like a hero?
ID: hjfvu8zMy canon ending is surrendering to the soldiers that come to 'rescue' you, so no I don't feel like a hero ahaha
-
I'm pretty sure that Batman Arkham Asylum isn't a horror game, but it had some really creepy/scary things in it. From Scarecrow's nightmare scenes to the scene with Killer Croc in the sewers. And I was only 10 when I first played it...
ID: hjgtc51Oh he yeah. That one part where it tricks you into thinking your game crashed and reset was the real horror.
-
Vampire: Bloodlines, the hotel level. Yeah it takes place in the whole world of darkness thing, but the entire game is like a trip to the candy store compared to that one level…
-
Control
ID: hjgbwbiCurrently playing through this right now because it's free through Twitch Prime.
But I'm starting to think it should be classified as horror... there's enough odd shit in there. Not to mention the SCP references.
-
There's some fucked up shit in Twilight Princess.

Almost every level that dealt with the Flood in each Halo game that had them.
ID: hjfnuvcHalo 3 cortana level, scary as heck. When I was young I skipped the level lmao
ID: hjg7ein343 Guilty Spark for sure, that level was specifically designed to wig you out. Gave me nightmares as a kid.
-
Undertale. I went in blind and the f**kerry related to it commenting on your undoing things by resetting your game and loading your old file, the PhotoShop Flowey fight, the weird Gaster Easter eggs and the jump scares at the end if you’ve done the genocide ending among other moments we’re deeply unsettling
ID: hjgr9bzOnly part of undertale that kept me scared was true lab. chilling music, fog, molten monsters. I remember that part where you enter the bathroom and somethings writhing in the shower but wheb you open the curtain nothings there, or if you lay down in a bed a ghost will appear to put a blanket on you and watch you sleep

Fucking white phosphorus...

Those stupid underground undeads in Skyrim
I wore headphones and man that didn’t help any. I used to end up going around attacking dead bodies to make sure that they wouldn’t jump scare me
ID: hjgny5bI think one could tell by their eyes whether they get up or not. If their eyes had a blue glow, they would attack you at some point.
-
Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. For some reason, the large empty corridors always gave me the sensation that something was chasing me. I used to try and speedrun it as a kid just to not get caught by whatever I imagined it was.
-
Thief:Deadly Shadows
-
I definitely consider Spec-Ops to be a horror game, just an unconventional one.
-
Halo. Took me 10 yrs to grow the balls to finish the first flood level

-
Bloodborne is fucking terrifying. Upper Cathedral Ward is essentially a horror area.
ID: hjgc69iWait, all of Bloodborne isn't a wretched cosmic horror?
ID: hjggsziOf course not. Some of it is a wretched gothic horror.
-
Halo CE, specifically 343 Guilty Spark. I will never forget the first time seeing the Flood as a kid...

Modern Warfare 2. When Price launched a nuke from the russian sub. Ghost is panicking by then, and so do I.

I walked around with a sawblade held in the gravity gun.
