While I love the remakes, the three PS1 originals still feel like their own experiences to me, and I'd love to have them easily available across current systems as well - they're the only thing that's missing, honestly.
With Square announcing another one of their PS1 titles coming to modern systems today - Chrono Cross, which joins ports of FF7, 8, 9 and Legends of Mana, among others - I really wish Capcom would put together a similar little package of RE1-3 ports. I don't need updated textures or anything, just hit me with that vintage goodness!
-
It's the set of classics I wanna see ported the most. I'd absolutely kill to be able to get a set of platinums for those games.
PS please do the same for the first two Dino Crisis games too. Thanks Capcom.
ID: hwc0i72ID: hwdvnkgI found my copy of dino crisis 2 last year and played it and I most say it still holds up pretty well.
ID: hwcb8evagreed. i would love to see dino crisis ported to the new consoles. grew up on those games and it would b a dream to have a remaster or remake of them
ID: hwdny48There are fanmade achievements for the PS1 versions of all 3 (and even Survivor) in case you are into emulation. You have to make an account on a website to unlock them, though
-
I’d kill for it. Add achievement support, maybe the option to choose between RE1’s cut/uncut intros and the original soundtrack and duel-shock soundtrack.
I don’t even need a resolution upgrade. Just give me the games, please. I’d pay full price.
ID: hwc0tihThis would pretty much be the ideal package - anything else, like concept art galleries etc, would just be the gravy on top.
-
In case you aren't familiar, both 2 and 3 have been successfully upscaled and released via the HD seamless project. Super easy to install and play on a decent laptop, and RE1 will be getting the same treatment in the near future.
ID: hwdwjxsWhere can I get them? And what are the basic specs on a laptop to run them ?
ID: hweevfeHere is their website which has the downloads and install instructions:
They also have a discord server where you can ask questions and get updates.
-
I do... simple as possible ports would be fine.
-
I mean people post this question here pretty often so probably.
ID: hwdfipaBut the answers might be different this time!
ID: hwdfy9oI’m not opposed to people asking over and over gain however. I would like to see a cool “Classics” collection of 1-3 and surely Capcom has read enough feedback. They’re usually pretty good at responding to feedback eventually.
-
It would be really cool if capcom still had the original renders and were able to redo them in higher quality.
Either way I just want the classics available. They're an important piece of gaming history and still hold up today. I would love them in my Steam library.
-
I’ve still never played originals 1-3 as I simply don’t have any platforms that support them. It’d be nice to play them after playing the remakes.
ID: hwethrnJust out of curiosity what platforms do you have?
ID: hwetl2rJust Xbox, if you’re not counting my PC
ID: hwdo6faYou don’t have a PC?
ID: hwegs9xNah not one good enough to run a game without crashing
-
Wanted it for years. I was honestly surprised they didn’t do it for the 25th anniversary last year.
Mind you they’ve released every other game on modern platforms and have many mega man and street fighter anniversary collections.
-
I'd buy it instantly.
But I assume Capcom have run the numbers and decided it's not worth doing.
-
With trophies ye

If Capcom released the the ps1 era 1st 3 resident evil games. With the dual shock versions and directors cuts of Resident evil. It would sell like hotcakes release digital copy, physical copy, special edition copy, ultimate edition copy. Whatever the hell capcom decides to release. Put in Resident Evil 1 uncut edition that was only released in japan heck release the Biohazard versions as well of the 3 games and throw in Resident Evil 1.5 even if its not fully complete but figure how to complete and release it.
-
upscaled backgrounds, 3dmodels slightly enhanced, trophies, high quality ost/sounds and 60/120fps and i would get them a second after announcement
i know it would be a lot of work, but imho it would pay off
-
Yep
-
Pretty sure though on ps3 but nothing after that.
-
As much as I want it, it won't happen because in Capcom's eyes, the originals don't exist anymore.
-
Release all the old games. Would love to play Dead Aim again.
-
Hey thank you! I've been wanting to play those games for a while
-
I mean there's a post like every day for it, so who knows honestly.
-
I really wish Sony would bring back the digital PS1 Classics series to PS4/PS5.
-
Yes but also
Please note every PS1 game you mentioned, Square Enix fucked up already or will find a way to fuck up.
At least the screenshots on PC make it appear like they didn't ruin Chrono Cross's interface - yet - but it's plain to see the "remaster" made the game look worse already.
Legend of Mana wasn't a port. It was a remaster. As is Cross.
-
Honesty, no. The originals are 4:3 ratio, which means black vertical bars on modern TVs. Capcom would have to zoom in and have the screen pan like they did with REmake HD remaster to achieve true 16:9 widescreen. However, the backgrounds for the originals would look like utter garbage zoomed in. Capcom would literally have to remaster the backgrounds since the originals are compressed to a 640x480 sized image.
ID: hwcyt5lThey provided cropped and non-cropped options for REmake and RE0.
ID: hwcz97pREmake and Zero are a much higher resolution. Far more easier to clean up and zoom/pan the camera. RE1-3 original ports would have borders. The same techniques applied to REmake and Zero remasters wouldn’t work. That’s unless you want a very pixelated and muddy looking game.

No fuck that shit

I would LOVE to play Dino crisis 2 again. Better yet that franchise deserves a reboot for modern platforms. Good story, fun challenging combat, and well dinosaurs.
