That’s awesome! The creativity that 3D printing is allowing is absolutely amazing.

That mini-gearbox is absolutely epic. You could have gone for a simple switch (up / down), but did this. Incredible! Any plans to make something of slightly bigger scale maybe? And how long you expect this to last?
ID: gsq4pmyBigger scale is doable, however a more low priority task, as I'd like to update the wheel next. More rotation with some gearing or smth like that.
My software is tracking the shift-counts and up until now I shifted for about 10.000 times - and I cant make out any sign of wear sooo... I guess that little rubberband becoming brittle will be the first failing part. PLA is remarkably tough!
ID: gsq5bupThis is genuinely fantastic. And maybe even have some commercial potential?

wow that genius

Did this from scratch or found something to work off of online? Just curious.
ID: gsqbdkwI designed the shifter from scratch as a small clip-on first. After some design iterations I stumbled upon a Youtuber named "akaki" - He has designed a HOTAS system for all kind of controllers, so I took some of his parts and modified my way to the current design. But most of it is from scratch.
You can see akakis creation on my thingiverse page as its listed as a "Remix" from his HOTAS

can you skip shifts? i.e. go from 5th to 2nd, etc. If not, paddle shifter might be better than gearbox
ID: gsqbpfvYou can shift in every gear from every position. Its like the real deal, just smaller and without a clutch. Ive tested going from fifth to first or reverse - its nice. 😀
And its also possible to use the shifter as a sequential, i've shown that in my YouTube video with Need for Speed Shift in case you're interested

Wow the creativity is mind blowing. Great job. I hate racing games usually but you made this look so cool I wish I could try haha
ID: gsqcjkmThx buddy! At first I did it just for the lulz but when I tested it the first time with beam Ng I kinda fell in love with it. way more fun than normal Xbox controller - and it's an absolute blast with VR gaming
ID: gsqcpbfYeah do doubt. Sometiems our creations can even surprise us. Ngl, I'm very envious and wish I could try it lol

Vroom vroom, goin to popular
ID: gsq489cxD I sure hope so!

Why didn’t they 3D print a bigger wheel
ID: gsq4dtdThat is holdover from earlier iterations. Small will to take the printing time down - Bigger wheel and shifter will soon be updated!
-
Thank you very much for the gold kind stranger! <3
-
You know, this brings up the question, why isn't there a full conversion controller for this? Just a large box you set your controller into and it has a full sized controller steering wheel and shifter conversion.
-
Are you going to upload the blueprint for this
-
What game is this? How did you get it so the RT joystick actually works like a gear box?
-
I would honestly buy this and I wish I could, good job man

This dude fucks
